How to Enable Fall Detection on Your Apple Watch

Technology is at its best when it is looking out for us. For many seniors, the Apple Watch is more than just a timepiece—it is a silent guardian. One of its most vital features is Fall Detection, which can automatically alert emergency services if you take a hard stumble and cannot get up.

How to Set It Up (3 Simple Steps)

  1. Open the Watch App: On the iPhone paired with the watch, open the Apple Watch app and tap the My Watch tab at the bottom left.

  2. Find Emergency SOS: Scroll down the list until you see Emergency SOS. Tap it to open the safety settings.

  3. Toggle Fall Detection: Locate the Fall Detection switch. Tap it so it turns green. You can choose to have it "Always On" or "Only on during workouts"—for maximum safety, we recommend Always On.
